The plot: Through the steadfast support of her older sister and trainers, Trudy Ederle overcomes adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete a 21-mile trek from France to England.
Young Woman and the Sea Movie was Amazing.
Pros: I like how they filmed many of the swanning sequences. Daisy Ridley was unbelievable as Gertrude Ederle. I Like the rest of Gertrude’s family and all the different dynamics she makes throughout her journey in this movie.
Cons: The film did rushed in certain bits of this movie & sadly this one didn’t get a wide released into cinemas.
The Casts:
- Daisy Ridley as Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle: An American competition swimmer and Olympic champion.
- Olive Abercrombie as Young Trudy Ederle
- Christopher Eccleston as Jabez Wolffe: Trudy’s trainer in France who failed to swim the English Channel on multiple attempts.
- Stephen Graham as Bill Burgess: Her hero who successfully swam the English Channel and inspires her.
