The Dune sequel was awesome.

Pros: The film is so stunning to look at on screen. Zendaya’s character had more of a big role this time around. It feels like a spectacle to see on the big screen. Timothée Chalamet was so good as the main lead. I like the score for this sequel, and I also feel for the emotional impact all of the characters go through throughout the story.  This one was easier to understand this time around.

Cons: The sequel was too long to sit through and felt a bit dragged out. Florence Pugh & Christopher Walken’s roles in the movie were limited and the dialogue was hard to understand at times.

The Casts:

Anya Taylor-Joy makes an uncredited cameo appearance as Alia Atreides, Paul’s unborn sister who appears in his visions as well as communicates to Jessica while in her womb. Babs Olusanmokun and Roger Yuan reprise their roles from the first film as Jamis and Lieutenant Lanville, respectively. Stephen McKinley Henderson filmed scenes reprising his role as Thufir Hawat, while Tim Blake Nelson filmed scenes as an undisclosed character, but their scenes were not included in the final cut; they were given a “Special Thanks” credit by Villeneuve.

I highly recommend watching the first film before seeing this one.

Rating: 9 out of 10 Stars
