Disney+ / Star Original Movie Presents Rosaline Review written by Ryan Balkwill

Genre: Romance, Comedy

Directed by Karen Maine

Based on When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Edited by Jennifer Lee

Cinematography: Laurie Rose

The plot: A comedic retelling of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” told from the point of view of Romeo’s jilted ex, Rosaline, the woman Romeo first claims to love before he falls for Juliet.

The Rosaline Movie was Alright.

Pros: Rosaline is like a tale of two different films smash together with perfect balance. This was a interesting new spin on  Romeo and Juliet. I like seeing Kaitlyn Dever in the lead role. There were moments that I can’t stop laughing and I like most of the supporting characters.

Cons: The romance between Rosaline and Dario felt forgetful. The final act at times can get too dramatic. I didn’t get through most of what’s going on in the film at times.

Cast & Characters:

I highly recommend watching this film only on Disney+.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
