Season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians was Good.

Pros: The three main characters worked incredibly well together. I enjoy this show’s slow burn journey to Percy becoming a hero. I’m glad seeing Adam Copeland showing up his acting skills in a biggest role such as Ares. Its full of intensity & emotion and I like the twists shown in the finale.

Cons: I didn’t like the material of its story this season. There’s a lot of bad green-screen effects and the final confrontation with Ares did feet underwhelming in my opinion.

Casts & Characters:

Main:

Recurring:

  • Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Percy’s selfless mother
  • Glynn Turman as Chiron / Mr. Brunner, a centaur disguised as Percy’s Latin teacher. While the character only pretends to be disabled to disguise himself among humans by using a magical wheelchair, the character has a disability in the form of a brace in his hind left leg as a war injury. The creators made this change to address disability, though they noted it would be “just a detail” during the first season.
  • Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus / Mr. D, the god of wine and curmudgeonly director of Camp Half-Blood
  • Megan Mullally as Alecto / Mrs. Dodds, Percy’s stern mathematics teacher who secretly serves the god Hades as one of the three Furies
  • Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano, Sally’s husband and Percy’s stepfather. Unlike in the books, he is not abusive as the creators felt that it wouldn’t fit the tone of the show, but noted that he’s “still an idiot”.
  • Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, a strong-willed daughter of Ares who bullies Percy
  • Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, a cunning swordsman and the counsellor of the Hermes cabin
  • Adam Copeland as Ares, the arrogant and daring god of war
  • Andrew Alvarez as Chris Rodriguez, son of Hermes and Luke’s half-brother

Guest:

I recommend watching this season only on Disney+ to anyone who still care about this material.
