The plot: Unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, actor Nick Cage accepts a $1 million offer to attend a wealthy fan’s birthday party. Things take a wildly unexpected turn when a CIA operative recruits Cage for an unusual mission. Taking on the role of a lifetime, he soon finds himself channelling his most iconic and beloved characters to save himself and his loved ones.
I was looking forward to watching this film to see what it’s got in store for me.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was so good.
Pros: This film does like a celebration of Nicolas Cage’s craziness over the years and also not afraid to have fun with it. Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal were fun together. I like this film sharing its love for the median of film and cinema & I did laugh so much.
Cons: The CIA plot didn’t need to be there and you might need to watch this film again so you can get what was going on.
The Casts:
- Nicolas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself
- Cage also portrays Nicky Cage, a figment of Cage’s imagination, seen as a younger Wild at Heart-era version of himself.
- Pedro Pascal as Javi Gutierrez, a billionaire and Cage super-fan who arranges to pay Cage $1 million to appear at his birthday.
- Sharon Horgan as Olivia Henson, Cage’s latest fictional ex-wife
- Tiffany Haddish as Vivian, a CIA agent
- Ike Barinholtz as Martin, a CIA agent
- Alessandra Mastronardi as Gabriela
- Jacob Scipio as Carlos
- Neil Patrick Harris as Richard Fink, Cage’s agent
- Lily Sheen as Addy Cage, Cage’s daughter
- Paco León as Lucas Gutierrez, Javi’s cousin
- David Gordon Green as himself
- Demi Moore as Olivia, another of Cage’s fictional ex-wives
- Anna MacDonald as Addy, Cage’s fictional daughter
I highly recommend watching this film to anyone who is fans of Nicolas Cage work.
