The Wild Robot Movie Review by Ryan Balkwill

The plot: Shipwrecked on a deserted island, a robot named Roz must learn to adapt to its new surroundings. Building relationships with the native animals, Roz soon develops a parental bond with an orphaned gosling.

I was most looking forward to this movie.

This movie was Great.

Pros: The animation was so good. I liked the story because it was simple and easy o understand, basically telling us how to find our place to belong. It deals with a lot of themes such as death and being a mother. The voice cast were amazing and My best parts were the humour and its storytelling.

Cons: The main atmosphere didn’t need to be there. There were some “bling it you miss” moments in the movie and I don’t have any more issues with this movie.

The Casts:

  • Lupita Nyong’o as ROZZUM unit 7134 (“Roz”), an abandoned robot that was washed onto a forest island and learns to adapt to the new environment.[5] The name of her product line, ROZZUM, and her manufacturer, Universal Dynamics, are references to Rossum’s Universal Robots, the play that created the term “robot”.
    • Nyong’o also voices ROZZUM unit 6262 (“Rummage”), a broken robot that was washed onto the same island as Roz, who gives Roz her transponder to return home.
  • Pedro Pascal as Fink, a mischievous red fox who is the first animal that Roz helps and befriends.
  • Kit Connor as Brightbill, an orphaned runt Canada goose who is raised by Roz as her own son after losing his biological family.
    • Boone Storme as Baby Brightbill.
  • Catherine O’Hara as Pinktail, a maternal Virginia opossum who gives Roz some advice on raising Brightbill.
  • Bill Nighy as Longneck, an elderly Canada goose who helps Roz understand teaching Brightbill how to fly.
  • Stephanie Hsu as Vontra, a squid-like robot that is sent to retrieve Roz.
  • Mark Hamill as Thorn, a grizzly bear.
  • Matt Berry as Paddler, a beaver who spends his days trying to gnaw down a giant tree.
  • Ving Rhames as Thunderbolt, a peregrine falcon who helps Brightbill learn to fly.

I recommend watching this movie in cinemas.
